The IBT provides data and methods consulting for members of the University of St.Gallen, covering both research designs and data analysis.
Our philosophy is "help to help yourself" — we support students and researchers with the initial design of studies and specific methodological questions. We also advise on databases and research software.
This service is open to all members of the University of St.Gallen, including students, PhD students, and professors. It is led by Emanuel de Bellis and the Swiss Institute for Empirical Economic Research.
The IBT is associated with the Open Science Office of the University of St.Gallen, providing you both practical suggestions on how and where Open Science benefits your research project, as well as educational resources to deepen your own understanding of Open Science, or to use in your teaching.
The Open Science Office is attached to the prorectorate research and faculty (PRF) and has been initiated by members of the IBT and other institutions within the University of St.Gallen.
Next to the Open Science Office, the University of St.Gallen also provides support about topics regarding Open Access and Data Repositories through services provided by the university library.
The IBT Living Lab provides a space where students and researchers can explore human behavior in real-life, technology-enhanced settings. The Lab features a modern living room where technology can be experienced and behavioral experiments can be conducted in a natural, yet controlled environment.

The living lab is equipped with the following amenities:

(e.g., air quality, movement, eye-tracking sensors) allow for unobtrusive and passive collection of behavioral data.
Multi-sensor data are simultaneously tracked and processed in an adjoining control room.
Extends infrastructure—especially the HSG Behavioral Lab.
